2015 Beneficiary: Washington Wild Brewshed Alliance
Once again Craft Beer + Food will benefit Washington Wild’s Brewshed Alliance program.
100% of proceeds from Craft:Beer+Food 2015 will benefit Washington Wild, an organization that protects and restores wild lands and waters in Washington State through advocacy, education and civic engagement. Their campaigns include the current Wild Olympics campaign, and the successful Wild Sky Wilderness initiative which created the first new national forest designated in Washington State in 24 years.
Their Washington Brewshed Alliance program offers events that connect with local beer-lovers to highlight the link between clean, healthy watersheds and the best local craft beers.
Past Beneficiary: Just Garden Project
100% of proceeds from our Craft:Beer+Food events in 2011, 2012 and 2013 benefited Seattle Tilth, an organization that inspires and educates people to safeguard our natural resources while building an equitable and sustainable local food system.
In particular, proceeds have been used by the Just Garden Project. Backed by Seattle Tilth, the Just Garden Project is a grassroots organization dedicated to building a culture of gardening for all people. They work with the community, encouraging and teaching people to build their own vegetable gardens, educating new gardeners and training youth to take an active role in gardening.
Their largest annual event, Spring into Bed, is a garden build day and celebration that engages people throughout King County to *feel their food system*. People can participate by volunteering at one of our 30 farms and garden sites or from the comfort of their own back yard by tallying their garden’s square footage. Their goals are 500 volunteers, 30 sites, and a square mile of activated food growing space on a single day.
